Small groups of two participants will be introduced to the different techniques by personal instructors. The course strongly relies on hands-on demonstrations using whole-head cadaveric specimens. Lectures and live demonst- rations will cover the theoretical background of the subjects taught. The official language of the course is English.

This meeting is the 8th international symposium in a row of successful meetings, since it was first launched in Dresden in 1996 based on the idea of bringing together clinicians and basic scientists. The triennial meetings aim at promoting exchange between experts in clinical otology, middle ear scientists and engineers. The meetings focus on the middle ear biomechanics (measurements and modeling), basic and clinical research on its physiology and pathology, active and passive middle ear implants, middle ear surgeries, bone conduction theory and applications. Also great interest is paid in areas as inner mechanics, evolution of the auditory system, imaging technologies, etc.
