As President of both the World Tinnitus Congress and its sister meeting, the 8th International Conference on Hyperacusis and Misophonia (ICHM8), taking place from 14 to 16 October 2026 in Hanover, Germany, I am keen to ensure that both conferences generate a coherent and lasting academic legacy.
To this end, two complementary Special Issues have been established under the shared scientific theme:
Neural and Cognitive Mechanisms of Tinnitus, Hyperacusis, and Misophonia
These Special Issues are designed to serve as publication pathways for high-quality work emerging from both conferences and to provide an international platform for interdisciplinary scholarship across neuroscience, psychology, psychiatry, audiology, and translational clinical science.
Special Issue: Neural and Cognitive Mechanisms of Tinnitus, Hyperacusis, and Misophonia
Journal: Brain Sciences
https://www.mdpi.com/journal/brainsci/special_issues/41027Z9CKCThis issue will particularly welcome contributions focusing on neural mechanisms, cognitive models, brain–behaviour relationships, neuroimaging, computational approaches, and interdisciplinary neuroscience perspectives related to tinnitus, hyperacusis, and misophonia.
Special Issue: Translational Audiology for Tinnitus, Hyperacusis and Misophonia
Journal: Audiology Research
https://www.mdpi.com/journal/audiolres/special_issues/97Z394S69D
This issue is intended for research with a stronger clinical and audiological emphasis, including assessment methods, diagnostic frameworks, intervention outcomes, rehabilitative approaches, hearing science, and service delivery innovation.
Together, these two publication routes position both conferences as feeder platforms for peer-reviewed dissemination, strengthening the translational bridge from scientific exchange to enduring academic contribution.
